Behind the Bar

Responsible Service of Alcohol

Responding to research that showed many hospitality workers lacked the confidence or strategies to manage intoxicated patrons correctly we where faced with a choice. Do we just present the bare facts and figures and tell them what they are doing is wrong, or do we develop a training tool that literally puts the viewer behind the bar into situations that they have to work through and consider how they would respond in real life.

Of course we went with the latter and created a suite of content utilising our POV perspective technique as the driving visual theme, putting our audience behind the bar and into the shoes of a bartender – letting them experience a range of situations in the safety of their home or training organisation, presenting a unique and memorable experience that aids in retention and engagement.

Using a variety of dramatised encounters with intoxicated patrons as a kick off point, we invite our audience to be a part of the experience and introduce strategies, tips, suggestions and tools that they can use to help navigate and respond to these situations when faced with them in real life – empowering them to make the right choices when it comes to responsible service of alcohol.

These videos are designed to be viewed either in a stop/start arrangement with a facilitator, where they can be paused for discussion with a class or group for further engagement, or to be viewed in a more traditional manner from start to finished in a self learning situation.
